Falcons CB Brent Grimes Could Be Candidate For Holdout

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution takes a look at the contract status of Falcons CB Brent Grimes.

Grimes was designated as the franchise tagged player for the Falcons, who couldn’t pen the pro-bowl corner to a long-term contract before the opening of free-agency.  As expected, Grimes did not report for the opening of voluntary workout, and it’s clear that no one is currently talking contract, given the focus on all sides on the upcoming draft.  The Falcons and Grimes will hope that headway is made before the beginning of mandatory minicamp in June, as Grimes would likely holdout if not under a new contract by then.

Grimes has never been protected by a long-term contract, from his days as an undrafted rookie to his current pro-bowl level, and is likely going to be stubborn about having increased security at this point in his career.
