Free Agent DL Jason Jones Still In Play For Cowboys, Despite Re-Signing Jack Crawford

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that free agent DE Jason Jones is still in play for Cowboys, even after they re-signed DL Jack Crawford to a one-year deal on Monday.

  • According to Moore, Jones would most likely have to sign a comparable contract to the one-year, $1.1 million deal that Crawford received from Dallas.

Since the free agent market opened over four weeks ago, Jones has met with the Steelers, Dolphins and Cowboys.

Jones, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Titans back in 2008. He played out his rookie contract with Tennessee and signed a free agent deal with the Seahawks. However, he spent just a year in Seattle before signing with the Lions the following year.

Jones is currently among the best available defensive linemen in the free agent market.

In 2015, Jones appeared in 15 games for the Lions and recorded 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 43 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
