Giants Signing OLB Markus Golden To One-Year Deal Worth Up To $3.75M

Ian Rapoport reports that the Giants are signing former Cardinals OLB Markus Golden to a one-year contract on Thursday.

The deal is worth up to $3.75 million with $2.225 million of that guaranteed, per Aaron Wilson.  Golden will make a base salary of $975,000, has a $1.25 million roster bonus due March 20, per-game active roster bonuses of $93,750 and a $1 million sacks incentive.

Golden was reportedly drawing interest from the Buccaneers, Chiefs and Raiders, but it turns out the Giants proved to be his best option in the end.

Golden, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year rookie contract and was testing the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2018, Golden appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals and recorded 30 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 99 edge rusher out of 103 qualifying players.
