Jaguars Showing Interest In Lee Evans?

According to Jaguars beat writer Tania Ganguli, Jacksonville’s head coach Mike Mularkey confirmed that the team has met with free agent WR Lee Evans and both sides are currently “still talking“.

Evans, who recently was let go by the Ravens, spent most of his 2011 season battling an ankle injury and only managed to total 4 catches for 74 yards during a span of 9 games.  He has yet to generate much of any interest from NFL teams during free agency so far, but now it looks like the talks between him and the Jaguars are progressing and Mularkey believes that they “went well.”

Evans has been in the league for eight years and, when healthy, can provide speed on the outside and opportunities for the Jaguars to throw down the field, as showcased by his success during his days as a member of the Bills.  Evans could be a complimentary receiver to newly acquired Laurent Robinson, for a Jacksonville team that definitely needed an upgrade at the position.
