Lions Plan On Re-signing QB Shaun Hill

Dave Brikett of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Detroit Lions have already told Shaun Hill that they intend to re-sign him during the offseason and apparently, Hill would like to remain in Detroit. Brikett even mentions that Hill may be willing to offer them a bit of a discount to stay on as Matthew Stafford‘s backup.

I hope things work out here and I’m able to come back,” said Hill. “I have to go and kind of weigh all the options and see what’s even going to be available. But I know I’m very happy here. I’m happy in my role here, and I’m happy where this franchise is going. All those things are very important to me.”

Hill, 32, could have drawn interest in on the open market but most likely not as a starting quarterback. He made 10 starts for the team back in 2010 but saw very little game action this season. He provides a solid quarterback experience to the Lions if something were to happen to Stafford so I could see them getting a deal done early into free agency if they’re able to address some other roster issues before hand.
