NFL Notes: Chiefs, Cowboys, Panthers, Seahawks & Steelers



  • According to Adam Teicher, Chiefs OLB Justin Houston is at least one more week away from being ready to play, which means he’s unlikely to suit up for their Week 8 game against the Colts.


  • Adam Schefter reports that Cowboys expect WR Dez Bryant to play Sunday night’s game against the Eagles.
  • Bryant was doing everything during the portion of practice open to the media and reportedly “looked good catching passes.” (Jon Machota)
  • Cowboys QB Tony Romo and LT Tyron Smith were not at practice on Monday. (Jon Machota)
  • According to Brandon George, Cowboys G La’el Collins said he’s not closing door on possibly returning later this year. Collins is close to having his walking boot removed.
  • Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick said he’s ready to return from a four-game absence this week. (David Moore)


  • Panthers impending free agent DT Kawann Short said he isn’t worried about how his play affecting contract negotiations after the season. Short mentioned that his contract isn’t something he’s thought about since the season began. (David Newton)



  • Jeremy Fowler reports that Steelers OLB Bud Dupree is planning to practice in Week 10 and return from injured reserve at some point this season.
  • Steelers Ladarius Green (ankle, PUP list) mentioned that he’s hoping to practice during the team’s Week 8 bye and plans to speak to HC Mike Tomlin about it. (Ray Fittipaldo)
