NFL Notes: Junior Galette, 2016 H.O.F. Class, Cardinals, & Dolphins

Junior Galette

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, Redskins OLB Junior Galette‘s Achilles’ injury will cost him $332,000.

Galette’s one-year contract with Washington included a preseason split salary that would reduce his salary from $745,000 to $413,000 should he suffer an injury.

Unfortunately, that’s not the end of the bad news for Galette, as Garafolo mentions that the Saints are claiming he voided the guarantees in his base salary of $1.25 million for this season, which means they do not intend to pay him any of that money.

As of now, there’s reportedly no indication that the Saints are trying to recoup any of the $12.5 million they paid Galette earlier in the year.

  • Albert Breer points out that the Redskins secure the right-of-first-refusal on Galette for 2016, which means they can keep him beyond this season.

2016 H.O.F. Class

  • Jason Cole reported that the 12 contributor candidates for the 2016 H.O.F. class will include: Pat Bowlen, Ed DeBartolo Jr., Jerry Jones, Art Modell, C.O. Brocato, Bucko Kilroy, Gil Brandt, Steve Sabol, Bobby Beathard, Art MacNally, Paul Tagliabue, and George Young.

Cardinals

  • Cardinals WR Michael Floyd still has no timetable for his return, but head coach Bruce Arians remains optimistic he’ll be ready for the season opener. (Darren Urban)

Dolphins

  • Dolphins first-round WR DeVante Parker is still unsure if he will be ready for the season opener as neither he, nor the team wants to rush his return. (Andrew Abramson)
