Raiders Re-Signing Veteran RB Doug Martin

Mike Garafolo reports that the Raiders are re-signing veteran RB Doug Martin following the Achilles injury suffered by RB Isaiah Crowell on Tuesday.

The Raiders had said they were open to bringing Martin back. He’ll now get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with first-round pick Josh Jacobs, Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Chris Warren

Martin, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. He was third in the first year of his five-year, $35.75 million contract when the Buccaneers released him last year.

Martin later signed a one-year contract with the Raiders and had been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2018, Martin appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and rushed for 723 yards on 172 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 18 receptions for 116 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
