Raiders Signing C Rodney Hudson To Three-Year, $33.75M Extension

Michael Gehlken is reporting that the Raiders are signing veteran C Rodney Hudson to a long-term extension on Friday.

  • According to Tom Pelissero, Hudson receives a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension that will make him the NFL’s highest-paid center. The contract includes $24.4 million in guarantees.

Raiders HC Jon Gruden told reporters back in June that GM Mike Mayock been in contact with Hudson’s agent regarding a new contract and it appears as though the two sides were able to bridge the gap.

“We consider him a big piece of this franchise. We’re going to do everything we can to keep him here a long time,” Gruden said of Hudson, per Michael Gehlken.

Hudson, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2011. He out his four-year, $3,506,100 rookie contract in Kansas City before agreeing to a five-year, $44.5 million contract with the Raiders for the 2015 season.

Hudson was set to make a base salary of $8.25 million for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2018, Hudson appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 4 center in the league out of 38 qualifying players.
