Raiders Signing Veteran CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

According to Adam Schefter, the Raiders are signing veteran CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to a contract on Wednesday.

Vic Tafur mentions that the Raiders will likely carry six cornerbacks on their active roster, especially with CB Daryl Worley facing a suspension.

The Raiders brought Rodgers-Cromartie in for a workout on Wednesday, so they were clearly impressed enough to sign him.

Rodgers-Cromartie recently worked out for the Seahawks and reportedly had the Chargers as a potential option, but was never signed to a contract.

A month ago, Rodgers-Cromartie told a group of Giants reporters that he planned to wait until closer to the season to sign with a new team. Rodgers-Cromartie added that multiple teams have contacted him and expressed interest.

Rodgers-Cromartie visited with the Redskins earlier this offseason but left without an agreement in place.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He was in the final year of his five-year, $35 million contract that included $13.98 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $6.48 million for the 2018 season when the Giants released him in a move that freed up $6.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Rodgers-Cromartie appeared in 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 58 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We had him featured as the No. 8 overall free agent in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
