Rams HC Sean McVay told reporters on Tuesday that they “absolutely” want to sign CB Marcus Peters to a contract extension, per Lindsey Thiry.
McVay added that Peters improved his play in the second half of the season.
Peters, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2015. The Rams acquired him from the Chiefs in exchange for a 2018 fourth- and 2019 second-round pick.
Peters was entering the final year of his four-year, $9.584 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1,741,932 for the 2018 season when the Rams picked up his fifth-year option last year. He’ll now make a base salary of $9,069,000 for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Peters appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 43 tackles, three interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and eight pass defenses.
