Saints Haven’t Ruled Out Re-Signing WR Brandon Coleman

Earlier in the week, the Saints made the decision to released veteran WR Brandon Coleman.

However, Saints HC Sean Payton isn’t ruling out the possibility of them re-signing Coleman once he has recovered from neck and hip injuries.

“He’s got a little bit of time still in his rehab,” Payton said, via Nola.com. “He’ll be able to go ahead and rehab and get healthy. I would anticipate that it’s not the last time we’ll see him. He and I had a good visit today, we’re all on the same page.

Regarding Coleman’s injuries, Payton said they’re “both going to require some time.

It would be too early for me to say three weeks, four weeks, but his progress is going well,” Payton added. “It’s just going to take a little bit longer. Right now, with where we’re at, we’ve got to keep making room so we can play these games.”

Coleman, 25, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in 2014. He was on and off of the Saints’ practice squad during his rookie season, but managed to make the 53-man roster each of the past two years.

The Saints brought him back on a one-year contract last year, but declined to tender him a restricted offer. New Orleans did, however, re-sign Coleman to a contract this past March.

New Orleans placed Coleman on the active/PUP list a few weeks ago before releasing him last week.

In 2017, Coleman appeared in all 16 games and caught 23 passes for 364 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
