Saints Signing S Rafael Bush

Nick Underhill is reporting that the Saints have signed S Rafael Bush to a contract on Thursday.

There wasn’t any reported interest in Bush before this, but it looks like he’ll be returning to New Orleans where he spent four years of his career.

Bush, 29, wound up signing with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State back in 2010. He lasted over one year in Atlanta before he was later signed off of their practice squad by the Broncos.

Denver waived him at the start of the 2012 season and he was later claimed by the Saints. New Orleans elected to match a restricted tender the Falcons signed him to back in 2014, but he departed in free agency last year when he signed a one-year deal with the Lions.

In 2016, Bush appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 52 tackles, one sack, two interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 65 safety out of 90 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
