Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Texans are signing former Chargers DB Jaylen Watkins to a two-year, $3 million contract.
Watkins, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2014. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and had a brief stint on the Bills’ practice squad before returning to the Eagles toward the end of the 2015 season.
The Eagles signed Watkins to a one-year exclusive rights deal for the 2017 season only to declined to tender him a restricted offer the following year. He later returned to the Chargers.
In 2019, Watkins appeared in 14 games for the Chargers and recorded 28 tackles, no interceptions and one pass defense.
