Veteran LB Derrick Johnson Signing One-Day Contact To Retire With Chiefs

According to 610 Sports Radio, veteran LB Derrick Johnson is signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Chiefs.

Johnson, 36, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2005. He was entering in the second year of his three-year, $21 million contract when he agreed to a pay cut last year.

Johnson later signed a one-year contract with the Raiders but was released during the season. 

For his career, Johnson recorded 1,168 tackles, 27.5 sacks, 14 interceptions, 77 pass defenses, 22 forced fumbles, eight recoveries and four defensive touchdowns over the course of 14 seasons and 170 games. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and was a first-team All-Pro in 2011.
