Chris Tomasson reports that the Vikings have reached an agreement to re-sign C Brett Jones. According to Tomasson, Jones receives a veteran minimum contract with a base salary of $910,000.
Tomasson also noted that the Cowboys were showing interest in Jones before he reached an agreement with the Vikings.
Jones, 28, was selected in the second round of 2013 CFL draft by the Calgary Stampeders. In just two years with the Stampeders, Jones won CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award (2013) and the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award (2014).
Jones signed on with the Giants back in 2015 and returned to New York on a one-year restricted deal worth $2.914 million for the 2018 season. The Giants later traded him to the Vikings for a seventh-round pick.
The Vikings re-signed Jones last April to a one-year deal. He was released early in the season to make room for WR Josh Doctson and later re-signed to the roster.
In 2019, Jones appeared in two games for the Vikings.
