Panthers Signed LS Danny Aiken

According to David Newton of ESPN, the Panthers have signed LS Danny Aiken to a one-year contract.

Newton notes that Aiken was added as an insurance policy in-case starting LS J.J. Jansen is unable to play in Thursday nightโ€™s Week 12 game.

Aiken, 27, spent his first four seasons with the Patriots, but was not re-signed to the team after playing out his contract in 2014. The Panthers hosted Aiken for a workout back in Week 4, so there is a level of familiarity with the team.

He originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills out of Virginia back in 2011, but didnโ€™t last long as he waived and later claimed by the Patriots that year.

He was a regular contributor on special teams since his arrival in New England, but is getting his first shot with a team since then.
