Staley, 34, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2007. He has played all 12 seasons in San Francisco and was entering the final year of a six-year, $52.45 million contract and set to earn a base salary of $8,050,000 this season.
Staley has frequently said that he intends to retire with San Francisco, so this does not come as a surprise.
In 2018, Staley appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 6 overall offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
