Field Yates of ESPN reports that the San Francisco 49ers have signed veteran WR Jerome Simpson to a contract.
- Simpson receives a two-year contract from the 49ers.
This comes just a day after the 49ers hosted Simpson and fellow free agent WR Ted Ginn Jr for visits.
There hasn’t been any reported interest in him since he was released by the Vikings in September. The NFL suspended him three games for an incident in which he was arrested for violating a limited drivers license, marijuana possession, and an open bottle.
Simpson, 29, hasn’t appeared in an NFL since the 2013 season when he caught 48 receptions for 726 yards receiving and a touchdown.
