Jets

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News believes Iowa State HC Matt Campbell would instill โ€œenergy and beliefโ€ into the Jets organization if the team hired him as their next head coach.

Mehta spoke with multiple NFL general managers, who praised Campbellโ€™s ability to create a winning program.

โ€œLook at what heโ€™s done everywhere,โ€ said one GM. โ€œHeโ€™s gone in and built a winning culture, a winning program, and above all, a winning roster. He runs a well-coordinated operation, provides good leadership and communicates his expectations well. Heโ€™s also able to build relationships.โ€

Another general manager said Campbell is a coach who โ€œgets itโ€ and complimented him for a number of qualities.

โ€œHis detail, his organization, his honesty, his understanding and ability to explain a playerโ€™s off-the-field habits and on-field preparation have impressed the heck out of me,โ€ said the GM. โ€œThis guy gets it.โ€

Patriots

  • Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk points out that Patriot QB Tom Brady will likely earn none of the $5 million in incentives included in his contract this season.
  • Brady stands to make $1 million incentives bonuses if heโ€™s top 5 in passing yards, touchdowns, passer rating, completion percentage and yards-per-attempt.
