AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders

Broncos

Broncos OLB Von Miller explained that he understands Emmanuel Sanders doing what’s best for him, but they “want people who want to be Broncos.”

“It’s part of the business,” Miller said of the trade, via the Denver Post. “It was best for Emmanuel and it was best for the team. We’re going through a tough patch here. We want to get it right. We want people that want to get it right with us. We want people who want to be Broncos. We have a really good roster of young players. We get [outside linebacker Bradley] Chubb back next year.

“We’re going to get it right.”

• Michael Lombardi reports that Broncos executive VP John Elway makes $12 million a year. 
• According to Troy Renck, the Broncos are “not looking” to trade CB Chris Harris, but he could see Denver dealing him if offered a second- or early third-round pick.
• Broncos HC Vic Fangio said CB Bryce Callahan (foot) has a “50-50” chance to play this season. (Nicki Jhabvala)
• The Broncos officially ruled out CB Bryce Callahan (foot) and S Will Parks (hand) for Week 8’s game and list LB Justin Hollins (knee) and T Ja’Wuan James (knee) as questionable. 

Chargers

• Michael Lombardi writes that the Chargers will not sign RB Melvin Gordon to an extension and should consider trading him to a team like the Eagles or Panthers before the deadline. 
• Matt Miller says scouts around the NFL are buzzing about the connection between the Chargers and the 2020 quarterback class. 
• According to Miller, multiple scouts have connected LSU QB Joe Burrow to the Chargers, depending on whether they end up with a top-10 pick. 
• According to Daniel Popper, Chargers DL Cortez Broughton was diagnosed with mononucleosis.
• The Chargers officially ruled out S Nasir Adderley (hamstring), DT Cortez Broughton (illness), DT Justin Jones (shoulder), and DT Brandon Mebane (knee) for Week 8’s game and list WR Keenan Allen (hamstring), K Michael Badgley (right groin), DE Melvin Ingram (hamstring), RB Justin Jackson (calf), and FB Derek Watt (knee) as questionable. 

Raiders

• Raiders HC Jon Gruden said he is not sure about RB Josh Jacobs’ (shoulder) availability for Week 8. (Myles Simmons)
• Although Jacobs is listed as questionable, Simmons mentions that Jacobs is still expected to play. 
• Gruden said of RT Trent Brown: “He looks better. Again, these guys are all questionable. You never know. When you get off the airplane, like we have the 14 different air stops we’ve made in the last six months, you never know how these guys feel.” (Vic Tafur)
• The Raiders officially list T Trenton Brown (calf), RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder), and WR Tyrell Williams (foot) as questionable.
