The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they’ve signed nine players to futures contracts for the 2020 season.
The full list of futures signings includes:
- OL Dino Boyd
- DB Xavier Crawford
- WR Reggie Davis
- DB Stephen Denmark
- WR Thomas Ives
- OL Sam Mustipher
- TE Dax Raymond
- LB James Vaughters
- WR Alex Wesley
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Vaughters, 26, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford back in 2015. However, he was unfortunately among the Packers roster cuts coming out of the preseason.
Vaughters later had brief stints with the Patriots and Chargers before signing on with the Calgary Stampeders for the 2017 season. The Bears signed him to a futures contract back in January and he was on and off their practice squad multiple times this season.
In 2019, Vaughters appeared in one game for the Bears and recorded one tackle.
