The Cincinnati Bengals announced Wednesday that they’ve activated CB Trae Waynes from the COVID-19 list and placed practice squad DE Freedom Akinmoladun and S Trayvon Henderson on the list.
Waynes is currently on the injured reserve list.
The COVID-19 list was created this summer for a player who either tests positive for or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.
Players will remain on the list until they are medically cleared to return.
Waynes, 27, is a former first-round pick out of Michigan State by the Vikings in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $12.944 million rookie contract when the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option.
Waynes made a base salary of $9,069,000 for the 2019 season under his fifth-year option and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career when he signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Bengals.
In 2019, Waynes appeared in 14 games for the Vikings and recorded 58 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles, a recovery and eight pass defenses.
