Ian Rapoport reports that the Bengals are placing QB Jeff Driskel on their injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury.
Rapoport adds that Cincinnati may end up waiving Driskel with an injury settlement, which would make fourth-round QB Ryan Finley the team’s official backup behind Andy Dalton.
Driskel, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2016. He was waived by the 49ers at the start of the 2016 season and was later claimed off of waivers by the Bengals.
He is entering the final year of his four-year, $2.45 million deal and set to earn a base salary of $448,000 this season.
During his college career, Driskel threw for 7,437 yards while completing 60.7 percent of his passes to go along with 50 touchdowns and 28 interceptions over the course of five seasons. He also rushed for 972 yards and 14 touchdowns.
