— Cincinnati Bengals (@Bengals) December 17, 2020
Cincinnati has had some injuries at quarterback so Shurmur provides a little more injury insurance at the position.
Cincinnati’s practice squad now includes:
- DE Freedom Akinmoladun
- WR Trenton Irwin
- RB Jacques Patrick
- DB Winston Rose
- WR Scotty Washington
- TE Mitchell Wilcox
- LB Keandre Jones
- DB Torry McTyer (Injured)
- G Deion Calhoun
- DT Andrew Brown
- DT Khalil McKenzie
- DB Brian Allen
- DB Trajan Bandy
- DB Donnie Lewis
- QB Kevin Hogan
- QB Kyle Shurmur
Shurmur, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Vanderbilt in 2019. He later agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Chiefs, but was waived coming out of the preseason.
The Chiefs re-signed Shurmur to their practice squad. He was on and off of their active roster last year before being waived in April.
Shurmur had a brief stint with the Broncos practice squad earlier this season. His father, Pat Shurmur, is the Broncos offensive coordinator.
During his college career at Vanderbilt, Shurmur threw for 8,865 yards while completing 57.1 percent of his passes to go along with 64 touchdowns and 29 interceptions over the course of four seasons and 44 games.
