Browns QB Connor Shaw announced that he’s been placed on waivers Thursday, via his Twitter account.
@Browns Thankful for the two years spent in CLE. Learned & grew a lot! Ready to see where God guides my family next!
— Connor Shaw (@cmshaw14) June 30, 2016
The Browns have several quarterbacks on their roster including Robert Griffin III, Josh McCown, rookie Cody Kessler and Austin Davis, so it was unlikely they would carry five quarterbacks into training camp.
Shaw, 24, wound up signing on with the Browns as anย undrafted out of South Carolina last year. He is in the final year ofย hisย three-year, $1.53 million rookie contract, which includes a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.
Unfortunately, Shaw’s 2015 season came to an end with him being placedย on season-ending injured reserve after he broke the thumb on his throwing hand during the preseason.
In 2014, Shaw wound up appearing in one game and completing 14 of 28 attempts for 177 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
