Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Browns are expected to waive S Derrick Kindred on Monday.
Rapoport says that the Browns attempted to trade Kindred, but no deal ever surfaced. Even so, Rapoport expects Kindred to have “considerable interest” as a free agent.
Kindred, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2,839,356 rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $2,025,000 for the 2019 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Kindred will free up $2,025,000 of available cap space while creating $1124,839 in dead money.
In 2018, Kindred appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded 43 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 90 safety out of 93 qualifying players.
