Update:
Ian Rapoport reports that the Saints are now “in the mix” for free agent RB C.J. Spiller, while the Cowboys “lurk” as well.
New Orleans has shed some cap space through several moves, so Spiller could serve as a nice complement to RB Mark Ingram.
Spiller, 27, finished out his five-year, $25,672,087 rookie contract with the Billsย thatย includedย $11,854,169 guaranteed and is now in position to be an unrestricted free agent in theย coming weeks.
In 2014, Spiller was limited to appearing in nine games and rushing for 300 yards on 78 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 125 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media mentions that C.J. Spiller is a name to watch for the Cowboys now that it appears as though RBย DeMarco Murrayย could be moving on.
- Rapoport points out that the Cowboys were interested in trading for Spiller two years ago, but a deal never materialized.
- Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported a few days ago that the Cowboys wouldย consider signingย Spillerย if they were to lose Murray in free agency.
Recent reports have said thatย Spillerย has at least seven teams interested in himย includingย theย Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Cardinals, 49ers, Redskins and Lions.
Last week, the Billsย called and thanked Spillerย for his service in Buffalo and told him that they had acquired LeSean McCoyย inย a trade with the Eagles.
“I hoped that I could return (to Buffalo),” Spiller said NFL Total Access. “Very few guys get to play their whole career at one team, but unfortunately that doesn’t happen in this business and I found out today it doesn’t happen in this business.”
The one team that stands out among the group is the Jets, seeing as there has been a lot of buzz that Spiller could sign with them now that they’veย hired former Bills HC Chan Gailey as their new offensive coordinator.
