The Chargers officially released OLย Orlando Franklinย with a Post-June 1 Designation on Monday.
According toย OverTheCap.com,ย releasing Franklin with this designation willย free up $2.5 millionย of available cap space while creating $5.1 million in dead money.

Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers are releasing veteran OLย Orlando Franklin on Monday.
The Chargers used second- and third-round picks on Forrest Lamp and Dan Feeney just a few weeks ago, so they were clearly prepared to get younger at guard in the coming years.
Franklin, 29, is a formerย second-round pick of the Broncos. He finished playing out hisย four-year rookie contractย with Denver and signed aย five-year, $36.5 million contract that includedย $20 million guaranteed with the Chargers back in 2015.
Franklin was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2017 season.
In 2016, Franklin appeared in all 16 games for the Chargersย and was rated byย Pro Football Focusย as the No. 66 guard out of 72 qualifying players.
