The Miami Dolphins announced Wednesday that they’ve waived CB Ryan Lewis and claimed DT Ray Smith off waivers from the 49ers.
The Dolphins also activated DT Benito Jones off of the COVID-19 list.
Smith, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Boston College back in April of last year. He later agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Lions.
However, Detroit elected to waive Smith coming out of the preseason. He was briefly signed to the practice squad before joining the 49ers in late December.
Smith returned to San Francisco on a futures contract this past February.
During his four-year college career at Boston College, Smith recorded 137 tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception and seven pass defenses over the course of 36 games.
