Dolphins Release RB Jeremy Langford From PS, Sign S Maurice Smith

According to Armando Salguero, the Dolphins have released RB Jeremy Langford from their practice squad on Wednesday and signed S Maurice Smith to the unit.

The Dolphins’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. G Isaac Asiata
  2. WR Leonte Carroo
  3. WR Isaiah Ford
  4. CB Jalen Davis
  5. C Connor Holland
  6. DE Cameron Malveaux
  7. DL Jamiyus Pittman
  8. LB Quentin Poling
  9. DL Jonathan Woodard
  10. S Maurice Smith

Langford, 26, was taken with the No. 106 overall pick in the fourth round of last year’s NFL draft by the Bears. He was in the second year of his four-year, $3.139 million rookieย contract and set to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season when the Bears cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

The Ravens signed Langford to their practice squad soon and wasย on and off of the unit before eventually catching on with the Jets in December. New York brought Landford back on a futures deal this past January but cut him loose before the draft.

Langford signed on with the Dolphins last month but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Langford appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 62 rushing attempts for 200 yards (3.2 YPC).
