Previous reports mentioned that the Eagles attempted to trade Daniel to another team, but apparently there was no deal to be made.
It was clear that Daniel wasn’t going to be back with the Eagles in 2017, as reports have said for a while now that he was available for trade. As a free agent, Daniel could draw a decent amount of interest.
Daniel, 30, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri back in 2010. He spent three years in New Orleans before signing on with the Chiefs in 2013.
After another three years in Kansas City, Daniels signed a three-year, $21 million contract that included $12 million guaranteed with the Eagles last year. He stands to make base salaries of $7 million for the next two years.
According toย OverTheCap.com,ย releasing Daniel would free up $6 millionย of available cap space while creating $2 million in dead money.
In 2016, Daniel appeared in one game for the Eagles and completed one pass for 16 yards.
