The New York Giants announced Thursday that they’ve placed WR Russell Shepard on injured reserve and promoted RB Jon Hillman to their active roster.
Shepard, 29, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of LSU back in 2013. He lasted just a few months with the Eagles before he was waived and later claimed by the Buccaneers.
The Panthers later signed Shepard to a three-year, $10 million contract for the 2017 season only to cut him loose the following years. Shepard signed on with the Giants last year and returned to New York on a deal during the offseason.
In 2019, Shepard has appeared in three games and caught three passes for 25 yards and no touchdowns.
