The New York Giants have released veteran TE Scott Simonson on Monday, according to Field Yates.
Simonson, 27, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Assumption College back in 2014. He was unable to make Oakland’s final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but later signed on to the team’s practice squad.
The Raiders elected to waive Simonson the following year and he later caught on with the Panthers. Carolina declined to tender him a restricted offer in 2018 and he later signed on with the Giants.
Last year, Simonson was placed on injured reserve coming out of the preseason and later released with a settlement. The Giants brought him back midseason, but he returned to the injured reserve list in December.
In 2019, Simonson appeared in five games and caught two passes for 11 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
