Giants Sign P Sean Smith To Practice Squad

Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports that the Giants are signing P Sean Smith to their practice squad on Thursday.

Here’s the Giants updated practice squad:

It’s worth noting that Smith is a left-footed punter and the Giants are preparing to play against the Cowboys, who happen to have a left-footed punter. Teams will bring in left-footed punters in order for their returners to get used to fielding punters with a different spin. 

Smith, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Dayton back in April. He took until August for him to sign with an NFL team when he agreed to a deal with the Ravens.

Baltimore waived Smith a few days later.

During his college career at Dayton, Smith totaled 8,618 punt yards on 203 attempts (42.5 YPA) over the course of four seasons and 44 games.
