The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve re-signed veteran DT Steve McLendon.
Manish Mehta reports that McLendon receives a one-year contract worth $2.5 million and can be worth up $3.5 million.
McLendon, 33, wound up signing on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Troy back in 2010. After six years in Pittsburgh, McLendon departed in 2016 and signed a three-year, $10.5 million contract with the Jets.
McLendon made a base salary of $3 million for the 2018 season before testing the open market this offesason.
In 2018, McLendon appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and recorded 34 tackles, no sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
