NFL Notes: Chiefs, Giants, Raiders, Redskins, & Saints

Chiefs

ESPNโ€™s Ed Werder reports that Chiefs RT Eric Fisher never asked out of the starting lineup to avoid Texans DE J.J. Watt.

Instead, sources tells Werder that it was HC Andy Reidโ€˜s decision, due to Fisherโ€™s limitations from an ankle sprain.

โ€œI know things are out there. Thatโ€™s ridiculous,โ€ Reid said. โ€œI was the one that watched him practice. I thought if I put him out there, Iโ€™d put him in a terrible situation.โ€

Giants

Giants first-round LT Ereck Flowers underwent an MRI on his injured ankle a day after he finished their Week 1 match up, despite the injury.

โ€œTheyโ€™re doing the usual number of MRIs, etc., etc.,โ€ Giants coach Tom Coughlin said on a conference call Monday, via Dan Graziano of ESPN. โ€œHe did injure the ankle early on, and he gutted it out and finished the game. But today is a different day. He was limited to a certain extent because of the injury, but I thought he battled away, and thatโ€™s what we always counted on โ€” that he would battle. And he did.โ€

Raiders

Redskins

Saints

  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Saints are bringing in OT Jake Rodgers for a tryout on Tuesday.
