NFL Rumors: HC Candidates, Sean Payton, Adam Gase, & Giants

HC Candidates

• Jay Glazer reports that Bears OC Adam Gase if the No. 1 coaching candidate right now.
• Bengals OC Hue Jackson is also a hot name right now along with Jaguars assistant Doug Marrone and Lions DC Teryl Austin.
• The Eagles reportedly contacted former HC Andy Reid about who he believes would be a good candidate for their job. Chiefs OC Doug Pederson is reportedly a leading candidate for the Eagles job.
• According to La Canfora, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels would be interested in the Giants and Titans.
• Jason La Canfora would discount Mike Holmgren’s interest in the 49ers’ job. La Canfora mentions that Holmgren could put together a top coaching staff.
• In the event that Jim Schwartz does not get a head-coaching job, Jason La Canfora expects him to be a “coveted” defensive coordinator. According to La Canfora, Schwartz is building house in Nashville and loves it there. He also has ties to coaching candidates Doug Marrone and Josh McDaniels.

Sean Payton

• Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Saints HC Sean Payton is meeting with GM Mickey Loomis tomorrow to discuss his future in New Orleans.
• Glazer mentioned that the Saints could consider trading him if a team was willing to part with a second-rounder.
• Sean Payton is expected to be linked to the 49ers and Colts, according to Glazer.

Adam Gase

• Jason La Canfora reports that Bears OC Adam Gase will have tough decision to make regarding where he’ll interview first.
• The Browns, Dolphins and Eagles all have “serious interest” in Gase right now.

Giants

• Dan Graziano reports that Giants HC Tom Coughlin has his entire family is at today’s game. Coughlin reportedly he asked them to come, but didn’t reveal his plans to them.
• Jason La Canfora reports that if Coughlin does retire as many expect, Sean Payton would be “very interested” in their head-coaching job. However, La Canfora isn’t sure the Giants will be willing to trade for a head coach, even with Payton’s strong ties to the team.
