Panthers Claim WR Kaelin Clay Off Waivers From Bills, Place S Demetrious Cox On IR

The Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday that they’ve claimed WRย Kaelin Clay off of waivers from the Bills andย placed Sย Demetrious Coxย on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Clay, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later signed to the Bucs’ practice squad. After a brief stint with the Lions, the Ravens signed him to their active roster and brought him back on an exclusive rights contractย last year.

The Ravens waived Clay in August of last year with an injury designation and laterย cut him loose from injured reserve. Carolina signed him to a contract back in April but later traded him a 2019ย seventh-round pick to the Bills in exchange forย CB Kevon Seymour.

The Bills waived him on Monday.

In 2017, Clay has appeared in four games for the Bills and caught one pass for 28 yards receiving.
