Thornton, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Utah back in 2017. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Lions cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
Since then, Thornton has played for the Ravens, Texans, Panthers and Bills.
During his senior year at Southern Utah, Thornton recorded 38 tackles, 11 pass defenses, and three interceptions over the course of 11 games.
