Update:
Mike Garafolo reports that Josh Gordon believes heโs close to returning to play, which means his time with the Patriots is likely over and he could be available later on in the season.
- Ian Rapoport reports Gordon is likely to be waived from injured reserve once fully healthy. According to Rapoport, Gordon has been dealing with bone bruises and it got worse when he took a big hit against the Giants.
Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Patriots have placed WR Josh Gordon on with a knee injury. According to Yates, this will be a season-ending knee injury for Gordon.
This comes shortly after the Patriots agreed to the trade with the Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu.
Gordon, 28, is a former second-round supplemental pick of the Browns back in 2012. Suspensions forced Gordon to sit out the 2015 and 2016 seasons but he was reinstated in November of 2017 and finished out the seasons with the Browns.
The Browns re-signed Gordon to a one-year exclusive rights contract worth $790,000 but he was traded to the Patriots for a fifth-round pick. New England re-signed Gordon to a one-year, restricted deal this offseason that will cost them $2.025 million for the 2019 season.
Gordon is in line to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career next year.
In 2019, Gordon has appeared in six games for the Patriots and caught 20 passes for 287 yards receiving and one touchdown.
