Update:
Michael Giardi reports that the Patriots and recently cut WR Demaryius Thomas have a mutual interest in re-signing once he is fully recovered from last year’s Achilles tear.
Ian Rapoport reports that the Patriots are releasing WR Demaryius Thomas on Saturday.
Rapoport adds that Thomas is still working his way back to a full recovery from an Achilles injury that he sustained late last season.
Thomas, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. The Broncos traded Thomas to the Texans for fourth- and seventh-round picks before the deadline in 2018.
Houston released Thomas in a move that freed up $14 million of available cap space and he later signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Patriots this past offseason, making his stint in New England short-lived.
They activated him from their Physically Unable to Perform list earlier this month.
In 2018, Thomas appeared in 15 games for the Texans and Broncos and caught 59 passes for 677 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
