Callahan was a popular name in recent days and was linked to the Titans’ offensive coordinator job before recently interview with the Raiders for their QBs coach position.
Gruden and OC Greg Olson had yet to decide whether they were going to hire someone for this role or assume the duties themselves, but it appears as though they felt it was best to hire someone to work with Derek Carr directly.
Callahan spent six years with the Broncos as their offensive assistant/quarterbacks coach and was a part of the coaching staff that helped them win Super Bowl 50. The Lions later hired him as their QBs coach in 2016 and he’s helped to continue to develop Matthew Stafford the past few years.
