Adam Schefter reports that the Raiders have released WR Seth Roberts on Thursday.
This comes shortly after the Raiders signed WR Ryan Grant to a contract. Beyond that, the Raiders have traded for Antonio Brown and signed Tyrell Williams in free agency, so there were questions about Roberts’ fit in Oakland.
Roberts actually came up as a possible trade candidate last year, but the Raiders ultimately held onto him and he played out the season in Oakland.
Roberts, 28, signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of West Alabama back in 2014. He wound up spending the season on Oakland’s practice squad before signing a future/reserve contract in December of 2015.
Roberts returned to the Raiders on a one-year, exclusive rights contract in 2017 before signing a three-year, $12 million contract that included $6.45 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $4.45 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Roberts appeared in 15 games for the Raiders and caught 45 passes for 494 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
