It’s worth mentioning that Richards will take the roster spot of Justin Bethel, who was recently released and later signed by the Patriots.
Richards, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2015. The Patriots traded him to the Falcons last year for a conditional seventh-round pick.
Richards played out the final year of his four-year, $3.711 million contract and made a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season. He signed a one-year deal with the Raiders this offseason but was released coming out of the preseason.
New England brought Richards back a few weeks ago only to cut him loose in recent days.
In 2019, Richards has appeared in three games for the Patriots and recorded two tackles.
