Redskins Sign OL Austin Howard, G Jonathan Cooper & G Luke Bowanko

The Washington Redskins announced Monday that they’ve signed OTย Austin Howard, G Jonathan Cooper and G Luke Bowanko to contracts.

Beyond that, LT Trent Williams and RT Morgan Moses are both dealing with injuries of their own, so they had to add some offensive line depth.

Howard, 31, originally signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent back in 2010. He had a brief stint with the Ravens before he was signed to the Jets’ active roster in 2011.

After three years in New York, Howard signed a five-year, $30 million contractย that included $15 million guaranteed with the Raiders but was cut loose last year.ย The Ravens signed Howard to aย three-year, $15.02 million contract a few months later before declining his option this offseason.

The Colts later signed Howard to a contract only to release him coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Howard appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 36 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.

Cooper, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013.ย The Cardinals traded him to the Patriots as part of the Chandler Jonesย trade, but New England declined to pick up his fifth-year option and later cut him looseย in 2016.

The Browns later claimed him off of waivers from New Englandย but he lasted just a few months in Cleveland. After one year with theย Cowboys, Cooper signed on with the 49ers but was unfortunately released coming out of the preseason.

In 2017,ย Cooper appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 35 guard out of 77 qualifying players.
