More Updates Regarding Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will spending the night in New York and undergoing a physical for the Giants on Monday.

• Ian Rapoport mentions that the Rodgers-Cromartie has already taken a physical for the Jets.
• According to Manish Mehta, Jets HC Rex Ryan wants to sign Rodgers-Cromartie “badly.”

It appears as though Rodgers-Cromartie could be getting closer to signing with a new team as a physical is usually a pretty indication that an agreement could be close.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 27, has been generating much more interest in the past few days after there was little to no buzz once free agency kicked off last Tuesday.

Last year, he totaled 31 tackles, three interceptions and a touchdown over the course of 15 games. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 5 cornerback in the league last year.

However, Rapoport mentions that the Cleveland Browns are “lurking” in regards to the bidding for Rodgers-Cromartie.

The Browns still have the cap space to be a major player for someone like Rodgers-Cromartie, and we could make very a solid compliment to Pro Bowl CB Joe Haden.

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that the Jets are still interested in free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, even after he left his meeting with the team to visit with the Giants.

Rodgers-Cromartie met with the Jets on this weekend who are obviously looking to add a cornerback after parting ways with Antonio Cromartie a few days ago.

• Cimini adds that Antonio Cromartie would like to return to the Jets next year, but he didn’t say whether the feeling was mutual.
