The New Orleans Saints are placing WR Bennie Fowler on injured reserve Friday, according to Katherine Terrell.
This comes after the Saints placed WR Emmanuel Sanders and CB Ken Crawley on the COVID-19 list.
It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list after just three games.
Fowler, 29, signed on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in 2014. He was unable to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later re-signed to their practice squad and returned to Denver on a future/reserve contract.
The Broncos brought Fowler back on one-year exclusive rights deals the next two years, but declined to tender him a contract as a restricted free agent in 2018. He had brief stints with the Bears and Patriots before signing on with the Giants.
New York released Fowler in November of last year. He signed on with the Saints this past July and has been on and off of their roster.
In 2020, Fowler has appeared in five games for the Saints and caught two passes for 11 yards receiving.
