The New Orleans Saints officially promoted LB Chris McCain to their active roster on Saturday.
McCain, 24, wound up going undrafted out of California back in 2014. Heโs managed to make the 53-man roster in each of his first two years in the NFL and was in the final year of hisย three-year, $1.53 million rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.
McCain was traded to the Saintsย but was waived as the team cut their roster down to 53 players. Dallas signed him to their practice squad just a few days later but unfortunately waived him in September.
The Saints signed him to their practice squad a few weeks ago before promoting him to their active roster. New Orleansย waived McCain shortly afterwardย and re-signed him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers.
In 2016,ย McCain has appeared in one game and recorded one tackle for the Saints.
