According to Luke Johnson, the Saints have signed TE A.J. Derby to the 90-man roster.
The Saints waived OL Nate Wozniak to create space, per Herbie Teope.
Derby, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2015. He signed a four-year, $2,392,052 rookie contract.
Derby was waived with an injury designation during the 2015 preseason and later reverted to the Patriots’ injured reserve list. New England wound up trading him to the Broncos for a 2017 fifth-round pick after appearing in four games for the Patriots.
Denver waived Derby with an injury designation in 2017 and he later reverted to injured reserve before being cut loose. Miami quickly claimed him off waivers from the Broncos. He played out the rest of his rookie contract for the Dolphins.
In 2018, Derby appeared in nine games for the Dolphins and recorded 19 receptions for 224 yards receiving, two touchdowns, and lost one fumble.
